The head coach of the Nepali national football team Abdullah Almutairi has indicated that he will leave Nepal.
Al-Mutairi, a Kuwaiti national, has signaled his resignation after the National Sports Council’s (NSC) investigation committee submitted a report on Wednesday on a dispute between senior vice-president and coach of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
He has written on social media that I am out now. “I’m out … let politics work,” he wrote. In other words, I came out, let politics do its work.
The report, which went public on Wednesday, made 11-point recommendations, including a warning to Al-Mutairi and the removal of the controversial status quo.
Almutairi had announced his resignation on social media on July 25, blaming ANFA vice-president Pankaj Bikram. But he did not resign.
In the report given by the investigation committee, it is mentioned that that status should also be removed.
On social media, the hit Almutairi has been keeping in touch with the supporters of Nepal’s coach Banayata since last April.
The Nepali national team is preparing for the SAAF Championship and a friendly match with India in closed training at Podra.
But in such a situation, the head coach is involved in the controversy, so the Nepali football field is in turmoil.
Nepal is playing a friendly match with India on September 2 and 5 at Dasharath Stadium. A similar SAAF championship will start in the Maldives from October 1.
