Bhim Acharya has been elected as the leader of the CPN-UML’s state-1 parliamentary party.
A meeting of the parliamentary party held today elected Acharya as the party leader.
According to Dhruv Subedi, Press Advisor to Chief Minister Rai, Acharya has been selected as the leader of the party on the proposal of Chief Minister and parliamentary party leader Sherdhan Rai.
Acharya, who has been elected as the parliamentary party leader, is being sworn in as the Chief Minister today.
Acharya, who was earlier defeated by a two-vote margin with Sherdhan Rai, has paved the way for him to become the chief minister again with the support of Rai.
UML has 51 MPs in State-1. In the state assembly, 47 MPs are needed to become the chief minister.
There are 21 MPs from the Congress, 15 from the Maoists, 3 from the JSP, 1 each from the RPP and the Federal Democratic National Forum.
Even if only eight MPs go to the Madhav Nepal-led CPN-Unified Socialist Party, the UML government is certain to fall. However, the UML leaders claim that the number is not in the socialists.
