Eight people have been diagnosed with dengue in the Khotang district.
Five persons from Diktel, Rupakot, Majuwagadhi Municipality-1, Diktel, one from Nerpa, one from Rawabensi Gaonpalika-3, one from Lamidanda, and one from Dandagaun of Diprung Chuichumma Gaonpalika-2 have been admitted to the District Hospital for treatment.

The main symptoms of dengue are sudden high fever but in some cases, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bleeding from the nose or gills, fainting, and other symptoms can be seen, health workers said.
According to news sources, dengue patients have also been found in Sakela village in the southeastern part of the district. According to the district hospital, dengue patients were found in Khotang this season as well.
According to the locals, there is a high incidence of cold and fever in every village of the district which has ten local levels. The number of patients seeking treatment at the district hospital has also increased recently, the hospital said.
It is said that there is a problem in the treatment as the pressure of the patients has increased in the hospital where the work of upgrading has just started. At present, the number of patients coming to the district hospital for treatment is around 200 daily. Malik said. The number of patients in the two primary health centers and three community hospitals in the district is the same, said a source.
As the services of government and community hospitals run in the district are not reliable, even ordinary patients have to be taken to well-equipped hospitals for further treatment. Work has been started to upgrade the only 15-bed government district hospital Khotang to 50 beds for the people of the district who have been suffering from health problems for a long time.
The 15-bed hospital, which was established on Baisakh 1, 2049 BS, has been upgraded to a 50-bed hospital.
