Jeff Bezos launches to space aboard New Shepard rocket ship

On Tuesday, billionaire Jeff Bezos launched his rocket ship, New Shepard, into space for the first time with a crew.

Mark Bezos, his brother, Wally Funk, an 82-year-old space pioneer, and an 18-year-old student accompany him.

They’re in a capsule with the largest windows ever flown in space, providing breathtaking views of the Earth.

The New Shepard spacecraft, built by Bezos’ company Blue Origin, is aimed at the burgeoning space tourism market.

Ms Funk, the oldest person to travel to space, and student Oliver Daemen, the youngest, are among the passengers.

The spacecraft took off from a private launch site near Van Horn, Texas, at 14:12 BST (09:12 EDT).
