MCC Nepal: A meeting of the top leaders of the five parties in the ruling coalition is being held today.
The meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar at 9 am, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
According to a source, the meeting will discuss the US grant assistance project MCC, completion of the cabinet, and other issues.
On 29 Bhadra 2074 BS, the then government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba and the MCC signed an agreement on grant assistance of 500 million dollars (about 55 billion rupees).
The KP Sharma Oli-led government had registered the agreement in the House of Representatives on Ashad 30, 2076 BS. However, due to a lack of consensus among the parties, it could not be approved by the parliament.
A team led by MCC Vice President Fatema Sumar has arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday to understand the progress of the implementation of the agreement. On the same day, the team arrived in Kathmandu. Discussions have been held with Baburam Bhattarai. During the discussion, Sumar said the MCC was not part of the US military strategy.
