People of Far-West and Karnali are celebrating the Gaura festival today.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba have extended best wishes on the occasion.
From Bhadra Shukla Panchami to Ashtami, the Gaura festival is celebrated especially in the far western region of Nepal. In this festival, Vratalu women go to Gauraghar and worship Shiva and Gauri. There is a belief that worshiping Shiva and Gauri by fasting in this festival will bring happiness, peace, and happiness to the deities.
President Bhandari wished that the Gaura Festival would further contribute to the preservation of the original Nepali culture and inspire all to take the lead in building a civilized, cultured and progressive society.
The President said that folk traditions and cultural festivals have been helping to strengthen national unity by increasing social and cultural solidarity and tolerance in a diverse society like ours.
She urged all to observe the festival with caution following the health rules implemented by the government to avoid the infection of Covid-19.
Similarly, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba conveyed a message of good wishes on the occasion of the Gaura festival and mentioned that the original festival of Nepal has been uniting different castes, regions, and communities.
