Fatema Sumar’s US aid project on a four-day visit to Nepal, has intensified political talks.
She reached Khumaltar on Friday morning to meet UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
During a one-hour meeting at Prachanda’s residence in Lalitpur’s Khumaltar on Friday morning, Sumar had requested to pass the MCC project and move forward.
In response, Prachanda said that they were in favor of passing the MCC by reaching a national consensus, according to Prachanda’s secretariat. Prachanda said that they were trying to move forward with a consensus in the ruling coalition.
On Thursday, Fatima also met Madhav Kumar Nepal, chairperson of the Unified Socialist Party, Baburam Bhattarai, president of the Janata Samajwadi Party, and Upendra Yadav.
She is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.
