Swimmer Chase Kallis won the first gold medal for the United States on Sunday, the third day of the Olympics in Japan.
Kallis won gold in the men’s 400m individual medley. He won the gold with a time of 4 minutes 09.42 seconds.
J. Leatherland of the United States won silver with a time of 4 minutes 10.28 seconds while Smith Brendon of Australia won bronze.
The United States has won a total of seven medals at the Tokyo Olympics since opening the gold account. The United States is in third place with one gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. China has won three gold medals and host Japan has won two gold medals.
